Principal
Martin is founder and a Principal in Technology Access Partners. He assists medical technology manufacturers and investors to assess and respond to the business and investment challenges related to reimbursement. Martin’s experience includes developing and implementing Medicare, Medicaid and managed care strategies for new medical technologies. He has assisted manufacturers in expanding the adoption of new products and therapies through the establishment of new or revised coding systems, development of medical coverage policies, execution of provider and payer communication and educational programs. He has developed economic sales strategies and tools for manufacturers and has trained and supported inhouse and contracted sales forces.
Prior to joining Technology Access Partners, Martin provided regional and national reimbursement strategy for Medtronic, Inc. a world leader in the cardiac, spinal and neurological medical device industry. In this capacity, he developed and implemented strategies to obtain coverage and appropriate payment for new technologies and surgical procedures. Martin developed economic sales tools that reduced the sales cycle and increased the adoption rate of the company’s technologies.
In previous positions, Martin has been responsible for managed care contracting and business development at several New York hospitals. Martin’s responsibilities have included strategic marketing planning and program development. He has assisted hospitals and physicians to analyze the economic feasibility of new programs involving high cost medical technology, assess the financial performance of existing programs and negotiate add-on/carve-out payments with Commercial payers when payments were insufficient to support the costs of the technologies.
Martin is a recognized national speaker and author on issues pertaining to reimbursement and medical technology. His articles have been published in Healthcare Financial Management Journal, Nature Biotechnology, Medical Product Outsourcing and Orthopedic Design and Technology (Rodman Publishing). Martin earned a B.S. degree in Finance from Brooklyn College, City University of New York (CUNY) and an MBA in Health Care Administration from Baruch College, CUNY/Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
