TENZER PLLC ATTORNEYS REPRESENT EDEN ROC MIAMI BEACH OWNER IN MALIBU FARM DEAL

November 18, 2016

MIAMI, FL – Nov. 18, 2016 – Tenzer PLLC has completed the successful negotiation of a license agreement for the Miami debut of popular California farm-to-table restaurant Malibu Farm at the iconic Eden Roc Miami Beach resort. The organic restaurant is set to open this fall within the Eden Roc’s Nobu Hotel Miami Beach.

The firm, which has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients in restaurant agreements, facilitated the Malibu Farm transaction. The Miami-based law firm has also represented the Eden Roc’s ownership in negotiations for the world’s largest Nobu restaurant and bar that recently opened within the resort.

The firm also negotiated the restaurant lease for DÔA, a new Latin-Asian concept from London-based restaurateur Arjun Waney that will open in November in Miami Beach. Tenzer has represented Waney’s group in the leases for Zuma and Coya in Miami, as well as La Petite Maison opening later this year in Brickell.

Malibu Farm, founded by cookbook author and farmer Helene Henderson, is a leader in the sustainable eatery trend that is growing in popularity throughout the nation. Malibu Farm sources the ingredients for its original oceanfront location in Malibu, Calif. from Henderson’s home garden, local farms, and a Santa Monica farmers market.

“Miami’s food and beverage industry continues to evolve with new eateries and bars opening throughout the city’s hottest neighborhoods, but Malibu Farm is truly one-of-a-kind for the area,” said Tenzer PLLC Member Ari M. Tenzer. “Both locals and visitors will undoubtedly embrace the farm-to-table concept. It is an ideal complement to the Nobu restaurant and bar at the Eden Roc.”

The Malibu Farm deal had multiple components. While the agreement was between Eden Roc’s ownership and Malibu Farm, Nobu has the rights to all of the food and beverage operations at Eden Roc.

Tenzer’s history with all of the parties, given the firm’s handling of the agreement between Eden Roc and Nobu, was critical in maintaining consistent communication while the Malibu Farm deal was finalized.

“A carefully drafted and well-negotiated agreement is vital to any restaurant’s success,” Tenzer said. “We are looking forward to dining at Malibu Farm, which is bringing its proven concept based on green sustainable practices to Miami. Our city is certainly ready to embrace this organic trend.”
